Which Types of Payment do you Accept?
All current payment transactions are handled via our payment partner Adyen. (Orders before August 2019 were done via Buckaroo Online Payment Services.)
The transaction statement on your bank transaction overview will always mention our payment partner Adyen, not always Fairphone B.V.
If you did not receive an order placement confirmation and/or a payment confirmation and they are not in your spam folder - something went wrong:
- Your order was not placed.
- Your credit card payment did not succeed.
- Your bank transfer did not succeed.
The listed payment options are only available in the mentioned shipping countries. So even if you have a payment option that would work in another country, it will not be available if your order ships to a country that does not have that option listed.

Credit card
International payment service with a credit card. Debit cards are not accepted.
We accept Carte Bancaire for France and VisaDankort for Denmark.
For all countries we ship to, we accept: American Express, Diners, Discover, JCB, Maestro, Mastercard and Visa.

PayPal
You can transfer payments from your PayPal account, directly or via your credit card (MasterCard, Visa) or a debit card. If you're not a frequent PayPal user, you may be able to make credit card payments as a guest up to 7 times, so without creating an account.
The payment fee is € 0,99 per order - independent of items in your order or shipping country.
If you have any issues paying through PayPal, contact PayPal customer service.
In case you encounter other issues, contact our Customer Support, especially when you have raised an issue in the PayPal resolution center.
Online Banking
You can transfer payments directly from your bank account via these (inter)national payment services.

- iDeal (Netherlands)
- Klarna Sofortüberweisung (Austria, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland)
- UnionPay (ExpressPay/SecurePlus)(all countries we ship to except the UK)
- Bank Payment (Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania)
- Trustly (Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden)
Pay-after-delivery (Klarna Payment)
Klarna offers pay-after-delivery options and installment plans for a smooth one-click purchase experience.
The payment methods you can choose from are: Pay Now (card payments), Pay Later (up to 30 days), Pay in 3 installments, and Financing (installment plans of 6, 12, 24, and 36 months).
You sign up for these services during checkout in our online shop. The Pay Now, Pay Later, or Financing contract will be between you and Klarna. Klarna will pay Fairphone B.V. directly for your order, and the follow-up payments will happen between you and Klarna.
In case of a return for a refund during the cool-off period, we will refund the payment of your order to Klarna directly. You must contact Klarna about information for payments between you and them.
Klarna Pay Later
Pay Later is available only for the following countries:
- Netherlands
- Germany
- Belgium
- Austria
- United Kingdom
- Finland
After signing up, Klarna sends you a separate invoice for this payment service and a payment timeframe. You do not have to pay any additional fees or an interest rate.

Klarna Pay in 3
Pay in 3 installments is available only for the following countries:
- Netherlands
- Portugal
- Ireland
- Spain
- Italy
- France
- United Kingdom
Once the shipment is confirmed, Klarna will email you detailed instructions on when and how the payment will be claimed. Your order amount will be divided into 3 equal parts, to be paid to Klarna over 3 months. Klarna will automatically transfer each payment from the credit/bank card connected to your Klarna account.
You do not have to pay any additional fees or an interest rate.

Klarna Financing
Financing is available only for the following countries:
- Germany
- Finland
- Austria
You can pay the order amount to Klarna in 6, 12, 24, or 36 months. During Checkout, you can select your choice in the drop-down menu when you select Klarna Financing as a payment option. Each time plan has its own associated interest rate. These interest rate fees differ per country. Your financial details will be verified by Klarna (it takes only a few seconds). Once your financial details are verified, the purchase will be completed. The first payment is due one month after your order has shipped.

Google Pay
Another payment option we have is Google Pay. Note that you need an active Google account to use this service (you can see how to set up Google Pay for your Google account here).
Google Pay works with multiple payment methods. If it is your first time using the service, consult this page - Find supported payment methods. Make sure to adjust the country in the drop down menu above the table to see payment methods relevant for your country.
We offer Google Pay in all countries supported by the service. You can check the service availability on this page under Pay online or in apps.
Lastly, Google Pay use is limited to web browsers supported by their infrastructure. The supported browsers are as follows: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, Opera, or UCWeb UC Browser.
Bank transfer
We offered Bank Transfer as a method of payment until the 27th March 2024. We believe that the other options we have available provide a much better experience.
