What is the storage layout of the Fairphone 1?
The first edition of the Fairphone 1, that was shipped in December 2013 and early 2014, contained two different storage partitions. One partition of 1GB for applications and one 13GB sized partition where users could put data like music and documents.
This setup came to us standard as part of the Android software structure, and while suitable for general use, some users asked for a solution to give them more space for their apps.
This unified storage partition was shipped with all second batch of Fairphone 1 in mid-2014.
In August 2014, with software update Cherry v1.6, first edition Fairphone 1 owners were able to upgrade their storage to this unified storage solution, as well.
Warning: when upgrading to the unified partition, all data on the phone will be erased.
A thorough backup of your data should take place. More information on backing up your Fairphone.
We recommend all users to upgrade to this unified partition.
