FP2. Security & "Find my device"

Hopefully, your Fairphone 2 will never get lost or stolen, but we can take some precautions, just in case.

For tracking, tracing, and (b)locking your phone yourself there are apps, devices, and settings available but you had to install and activate them yourself in advance.

Android offers special security options to help you lock and locate your phone to prevent the data on it end up in the wrong hands.

To enable this security setting, go to Settings > Security & location > Find My Device (choose your profile in case you installed more than one) and tap on the toggle so that you see "On".

If you have disabled the location service, the following writing will be present: "Find My Device won't work Location is off." Tap on it, then tap on TURN ON.

Once this is done, you can find your Fairphone by going go to https://www.google.com/android/find from any device. You will have to login into the same Google account you used for your Fairphone.
Here you can activate a variety of options, including the ability to locate your device and remotely lock and erase it.

If your Fairphone 2 were to be lost or stolen, you can:

  • Contact us so we can register it in our stolen phone list. However, we are unable to track your phone.
  • In any case, we urge you to file a police report, preferably with your Fairphone's data that you can find on the bottom of the original white box and in your personal space on our webshop.
