(Un)Install an app from the Google Play Store™

 

There are thousands of apps you can download to use with your Fairphone 3. You can easily install them via the pre-installed Google Play Store.

 

Install an app

To download and install a new app:

  1. Slide the All apps bar up 
  2. Push the Colored triangle icon to open the Google Play™ Store app
  3. If you used the Play Store before, and are logged in to your Google account, you can also find previously downloaded apps via the three-bar menu on top left, in My apps and games
  4. Type the name of the app in the search bar at the top. The app should appear in the search results. If not, make sure the app is made for Android and accepted by Google.
  5. Tap on the app you want to download.
    1. If it is a free app, you can simply tap the green Install button
      A screen shows that informs know what types of files or data this app will access. If you are comfortable with that, tap on Accept and the app will start installing.
    2. If you have to pay for the app, you add a payment option to your account. Instead of the Install button, you will see the price of the app. If you are happy to pay, tap on the price button. You will now see an overview of the files or data this app can access. If this is your first time downloading a paid app, after you click Accept, you can select how you wish to pay: by credit or debit card, PayPal or a redeem code.
  6. To use the app, tap Start the app! If you are concerned that this app will have an unnecessary impact on your privacy, tap Take me back
  7. On your Home screen, the new app icon shows. You can move it to a place or group of your choice.

 

Uninstall an app

To uninstall an app from your phone:

  1. Hold and drag the icon with one finger. You can use both the icon of a shortcut on the home screen, or the icon from the All apps bar
  2. Drag it to the option Uninstall that now show at the top of the screen.

This will remove the application permanently.
