FP3(+). Issues with calls
If you have an issue with calls (e.g., the audio is not clear for either one or both of the participants, the connection fails after a couple of minutes), please follow the next instructions.
Update your Fairphone
To exclude a software issue, always make your FP3/FP3+ run on the latest software update.
If the update is not yet available for your network operator (or doesn't solve the issue), please, disable Enhanced 4G LTE and Wi-Fi calling.
The FP3/FP3+ is technically capable of using VoLTE and VoWiFi technologies, but we are still waiting to complete the partnerships with the various phone carriers. That is why we strongly advise you to disable them for the time being, as they might be causing incompatibilities with your network operator. We will enable the service(s) with a future software update once available for your network operator.
Disable Enhanced 4G LTE
1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network > Advanced
2. Click and disable the option "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode."
If the option "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" is not available in your Fairphone, you can try selecting "Preferred network type" and then choosing "2G/3G auto". After the next software update, we suggest you switch to the option "2G/3G/4G auto".
Disable Wi-Fi calling (VoWi-Fi, Voice over Wi-Fi)
Additionally, if the issue is still not solved, you might also need to disable Wi-Fi Calling (this service is not available for all network providers, so it might happen that it doesn't show on your device).
- Open the Phone app (the app you use to make phone calls)
- Tap on the three vertical dots icon in the top right corner to open more options
- Select Settings
- Select Calling accounts
- Select the SIM card you are using
- Click on Wi-Fi Calling and disable it.
