General Connection Settings

There are several reasons you might want to change your connection settings. For example, to save battery life when traveling.
Data connections use lots of energy. Especially when on the go, it's advisable to disable the connectivity functions you do not need, such as Wi-Fi when outdoors. If you don't, your phone will constantly seek Wi-Fi networks to connect.

Wi-Fi, Mobile data, Bluetooth

  1. Swipe down twice from the top of the screen. You will open the pull-down Quick settings menu.
  2. Tap the desired icon: Wi-Fi, Mobile dataMobile_data.png, or Bluetooth.
- IMPORTANT -
Be aware that most of the Coronavirus monitoring apps require Bluetooth to be enabled.

For more detailed information, follow the link about the desired mode of connection: Bluetooth, Mobile data, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, NFC.

Location service

The Location service can also impact your battery usage. When you don't need it, you can disable it using the quick settings menu.

  1. Swipe down twice from the top of the screen. You will open the pull-down Quick settings menu.
  2. Tap the Location icon to enable or disable it. You might need to add the shortcut by tapping on the Pencil icon (as we explained previously in this article).
- IMPORTANT -
Some apps or services need to know your position to work. Examples are navigation apps, delivery apps, vehicle sharing apps, geotagging apps, etc.

Airplane mode

An effective way to conserve energy without completely turning off your phone is via Airplane mode. If you can spend some time without any connectivity, you use this.

  1. Swipe down twice from the top of the screen. You will open the pull-down Quick settings menu.
  2. Tap on the Airplane mode iconAirplane_mode.png.
-IMPORTANT-
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be turned back on, as some carriers and aircrafts allow the use of one or both during flight. Check with the flight attendants if and when you can use them.
