Connect to a mobile network
Important: Some of these steps only work if your Fairphone has Android 13 or above. Learn how to Check and update your software version.
When connected to a mobile network, your Fairphone can make calls, send and receive SMS, and use mobile data on the go.
Set up a SIM
To connect your Fairphone to a mobile network, you'll need at least one active SIM. If you have an active SIM, learn how to set it up:
If you don't have an active SIM, contact your network operator to request one.
Connect to a mobile network
In most cases, your Fairphone will automatically connect to your mobile network operator as soon as you've set up your SIM.
If your Fairphone doesn't automatically connect, you may need to change your mobile network settings:
- On your Fairphone, go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.
- Tap the name of SIM you want to edit.
Check with your network operator to find the appropriate settings for your SIM.
Turn mobile data on or off
To turn mobile data on or off using the Settings app, follow these steps:
- On your Fairphone, go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.
- Tap the name of SIM you want to turn mobile data on or off for.
- Tap Mobile data to turn on or off.
To turn mobile data on or off using Quick Settings, follow these steps:
- On your Fairphone, swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Tap Internet, and then tap the toggle to the right of the SIM's name to turn mobile data on or off for that SIM.
Important: If you're using Dual SIM, you can only turn on mobile data for one SIM at a time.
