How to connect to a Wi-Fi network

Connecting your Fairphone to Wi-Fi lets you access the internet to download apps, stream content, and keep your phone updated. Follow these steps to manage your Wi-Fi settings, join networks, and remove saved connections.

How to turn Wi-Fi on or off

You can manage your Wi-Fi connection using either the Settings app or your Quick Settings menu.

Using the Settings app:

1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Internet.
2. Tap Wi-Fi to turn it on or off.

Using Quick Settings:

1. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel.
2. Tap Internet, then tap Wi-Fi to turn it on or off.
3. Tap and hold Internet in your Quick Settings panel to open your full network options.

How to connect to a Wi-Fi network

1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Internet.
2. If Wi-Fi is turned off, tap the switch to turn it on. Available networks will appear in a list.
3. Tap the name of the network you want to join.
4. Enter the password if prompted, then tap Connect.
5. Once your phone connects, you will see Connected displayed under the network name.

Manage automatic connections

Your phone automatically connects to saved networks whenever you are within range. To turn automatic connection on or off for a specific network:

1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Internet.
2. Tap the name of the saved network.
3. Tap Auto-connect to turn the setting on or off.

How to remove a saved Wi-Fi network

If you want your phone to stop connecting to a specific network automatically:

1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > Internet.
2. Tap the name of the network you want to remove.
3. Tap Forget.
