How to Recycle Old Spare Parts and electronics

Recycling Your Old Fairphone Spare Parts

Got a spare part you no longer need? Great news—there are plenty of ways to give it a new life! Once your Fairphone is back in top shape, here’s how you can make the most of your old parts.

Give Your Old Spare Part a Second Life
Before recycling, consider whether someone else could still use it. Such as:

  • Pass It On: If your module or spare part is still working, why not make another Fairphone owner happy? You can sell or give it away on the Community Forum Marketplace!
  • Recycle It: If it's broken or no longer working, recycling is the way to go. Many electronics stores or local recycling centers accept e-waste—check with your municipality for the best options near you.

Make the Most of Your Recycling Trip
Got other old electronics lying around? Bring them along when you drop off your Fairphone parts! This is a great opportunity to responsibly recycle things like cables, chargers, or old gadgets you no longer use.

For small Fairphone spare parts, we recommend recycling locally to save time and reduce your carbon footprint. But if you’re looking to recycle an old smartphone, use our Fairphone recycling program (for many phone types).

-IMPORTANT-
Battery Recycling
Lithium-ion batteries contain hazardous materials and cannot be shipped via regular mail. Please recycle them as soon as possible at your nearest battery collection point. Check your local municipality’s website or ask an electronics store for details on safe disposal.

We truly appreciate you taking the time to recycle responsibly—it’s small actions like these that help build a fairer, more sustainable world.
