Murena: Fairphone 4 with /e/OS in the USA
Since July 2023, we have partnered with our sales partner Murena to start a pilot to offer Fairphone 4's with /e/OS in the U.S.A.
Interested customers can order via Murena.com. The Murena Fairphone 4 is standard equipped with /e/OS, an alternative operating system.
For any Fairphone 4 with /e/OS shipped to the USA, please contact Murena for support and inquiries. Even though it is our Fairphone 4, different warranty conditions apply to customers in the U.S.A.
To claim their warranty, USA-based customers do not need to register for the Extended Warranty on our website. They will need to contact Murena directly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where can I buy a Fairphone 4 with /e/OS for the U.S.A.? Will all variants be available?
A: Via our partner Murena, you can place your order for a Fairphone 4 with the operating system /e/OS running on it, that ships to the U.S.A.
All the variants will be available except the Speckled Green color. In other words, we will sell: Fairphone 4 128Gb, 6Gb RAM in Grey, Fairphone 4 256Gb, 8Gb RAM in Grey and Green.
Q: Will I be able to receive the Extended 5-year Warranty for my Fairphone 4? Where can I register for it?
A: On our Warranty page, you will find more information and the form to register your Fairphone 4. You will need the IMEI of the device and a copy of the invoice to upload. To claim their warranty, USA-based customers need to contact Murena directly.
Q: Can I mount another operating system on my Fairphone 4? Can I still receive support? What about my warranty?
A: Yes, that is possible. In case you need support, you have the following options - depending on the operating system you are using:
- Consult the forum and support of the alternative OS that you are using if it is not /e/OS or Fairphone OS.
- Return your Fairphone 4 to the original /e/OS and contact Murena for support, any repairs, spare parts, connectivity advice, and warranty claims.
- If you mount Fairphone OS on your Fairphone 4, you can do only some basic troubleshooting. You can use our support articles or our Troubleshooter tool. Our Customer Support team is not able to help you further than that, because other Warranties and Terms & Conditions apply to the devices that ship to the U.S.A.
Q: Do you have a different privacy policy for the U.S.A.?
A: Yes, the privacy policy for US customers differs. You can view the privacy policy on the Murena website.
Q: Will you have an unlimited amount of Fairphone 4 devices with /e/OS available?
A: There will be as many as there is demand for and in stock.
Q: Why are you launching in the US now?
A: We wanted to launch in the US market since we started Fairphone. Yet, entering such a big market takes time and a lot of planning. Our launch with /e/OS by Murena is our first, tentative step into the American market. As a pilot, with an initial limited batch of phones, it gives us the opportunity to test and see how it goes. This way, we can learn along the way, before expanding fully in the US in the future. We are very happy to do it with a long-standing partner, Murena.
Q: Why are you launching with /e/OS instead of standard Android OS?
A: We are still quite a small company, so working with a company like Murena (developing /e/OS) facilitates us. The whole commercial process is taken care of by our partner, from shipment to after-sales to customer support. This makes it easier for us to start with the introduction of Fairphone to the U.S.A. and does not need the onboarding of operators, which is quite time-consuming.
Q: When will you launch fully in the US with a Fairphone with Fairphone OS from your shop?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot give you a date yet. At the moment, we decided to only launch with our close partner Murena. Our Fairphone 4 with /e/OS for the U.S.A. is only available via the Murena website.
Q: What devices will be available with /e/OS for the US? For how long?
A: For now, we will only sell Fairphone 4 devices with /e/OS to the U.S.A. via Murena.
We don’t have a timeline. It depends on the demand we receive.
Q: Are the devices available in all US states and territories, or only in some states?
A: Fairphone 4 devices with /e/OS will be available in all US states, including Hawaii and Alaska.
Q: Will my Fairphone work across all of North America? What about when 3G networks shutdown? Will VoLTE and VoWi-Fi work?
A: Fairphone 4 with /e/OS will only work with T-Mobile in the US, as it is not optimized for Verizon and AT&T. This means that as long as there's T-mobile coverage, it'll work.
After the 3G network is shut down, the Fairphone 4 will continue working on the 4G network. It also supports VoLTE (Voice over LTE, a.k.a. 4G calling) and VoWi-Fi (Voice over Wi-Fi, a.k.a. Wi-Fi calling) on the T-mobile network in the US.
Q: Can I buy accessories to go with my Fairphone 4?
A: Yes, you can buy what Murena offers. Only they ship to the U.S.A. Currently available via them:
- USB-C 3.2 Long Life Cable
- Fairphone 4 Screen Protectors (Privacy & Blue Light Filter)
- Fairphone 4 Protective Soft Cases
- Dual port 30W charger EU & UK
- USB-C to Mini Jack adapter
- USB-C 2.0 Cable
- Fairphone 4 Battery.
Q: Who do I contact if I have a problem with my Fairphone 4 (hardware or software)?
A: Please contact Murena support, as they have the expertise and experience with the US network situation, and take care of all the after-sales care as you purchased via them.
Q: Where can I send my phone for repair in the U.S.A.?
Please contact Murena support: they will be happy to help you further.
Q: Can I order spare parts to repair the device myself?
A: Yes, you can order spare parts for the Fairphone 4 via the Murena website. We do not sell the core module, so it will also not be available via Murena.com. You will need a Phillips 00 screwdriver to replace the spare parts.
Q: I can not unscrew the spare parts to fix the phone myself. What should I do?
A: Please contact Murena customer support and they will be able to help you.
Q: As the Fairphone was created for the European market, is it safe to charge the Fairphone 4 with a standard American power outlet? Does it come with a US charger?
A: Yes, your can charge your Fairphone 4 with a 30W USB-C power adapter. See our support article on charging for technical requirements.
Note that your Fairphone 4 will ship without a cable and/or charger for the US, since most people already have a compatible one at home. In case you don’t, you can get a cable via Murena.
Q: When will you launch in other countries where FP is not yet available?
A: We are researching the market and the logistic possibilities to expand to more regions.
At the moment we cannot support Fairphone in other countries yet, due to complicated logistics, high costs, and different VAT regulations. We are using the USA Murena launch as a pilot to learn from for future expansions to other markets and a “full” launch in the USA. Every country & the operators within those countries have their own specific requirements which we will need to review first before
considering starting sales. This applies to our current portfolio of devices as well as to our future devices.
It is definitely on our wishlist for the future to expand to more countries! You can find more info here, or follow us and we will update you via our social channels and via our newsletter.
Q: How is this “launch” in the USA different from other resellers that are selling Fairphones outside of Europe, e.g. Vireo?
A: Vireo already offers to ship Fairphones to countries outside of Europe. However, that was not part of an official launch, and they do not use swap pools for repairs and replacement, nor can their overseas customers register for the Extended Warranty. Customers buying from our official partner Murena can.
Q: What can I and other Fairphone supporters do to make you come to my country faster?
A: We are always happy to receive your feedback on which country you’d like us to launch in next. Please continue to share your feedback and we will keep it in mind for future launches!
