Where can I buy The Fairphone (Gen. 6) and Fairphone 4 with /e/OS for the US? Will all variants be available?

Via our partner Murena, you can place your order for The Fairphone (Gen. 6) and Fairphone 4 with the operating system /e/OS running on it, that ships to the U.S. For the available variants, please see the Murena shop.

 

Will I be able to receive the Extended 5-year Warranty for my Fairphone device in the US? Where can I register for it?

To get your extended warranty, you'll need to register your device on our website. Head over to our Warranty page where you'll find more information and the registration form. Be sure to have your device's IMEI and a copy of your invoice ready to upload.

 

Can I install another operating system on my Fairphone purchased via Murena? If yes, can I still receive support and is the warranty of my device still valid?

Yes, that is possible. In case you need support, you have the following options - depending on the operating system you are using:

  • If You're Using an Alternative OS (not /e/OS or Fairphone OS):
    If you've installed an operating system other than /e/OS or Fairphone OS on your device, please consult the forum and support channels for that specific alternative OS. They'll be the best resource for troubleshooting and assistance.

  • If your Fairphone is running its original /e/OS, and you need help with repairs, spare parts, connectivity, or making a warranty claim, please contact Murena for support.

  • If you install Fairphone OS on your Fairphone bought at Murena, you can do some basic troubleshooting. You can find helpful information in our support articles or by using our Troubleshooter tool. Fairphone Customer Support team is not able to help you further than that, because other Warranties and Terms & Conditions apply to the devices that ship to the U.S.

 

Do you have a different privacy policy for the US?

Why did Fairphone enter the US market with Murena and /e/OS?

Entering a market as large as the U.S. required careful planning and a strategic approach. Our collaboration with Murena and their /e/OS was an initial, measured step into the American market. This allowed us to learn and adapt, paving the way for future expansion in the U.S. We were glad to partner with Murena, a long-standing collaborator, for this important endeavor.

 

Why was /e/OS chosen instead of standard Android OS for the US launch?

As a smaller company, partnering with Murena, developers of /e/OS, streamlined our entry into the U.S. market. They handled the entire commercial process, from shipping to after-sales support and customer service. This made it significantly easier to introduce Fairphone to the U.S. without the time-consuming process of onboarding traditional network operators.

 

Will you launch fully in the US with a Fairphone with Fairphone OS from your shop?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot give you a date yet. At the moment, we decided to only launch with our close partner Murena. Our Fairphone 4 with /e/OS for the U.S. is only available via the Murena website.

 

What Fairphone devices are available with /e/OS in the US?

We're excited to bring a selection of Fairphone's ethical and repairable devices to the U.S.! You can currently find the Fairphone (Gen. 6) and Fairphone 4, both running /e/OS, along with their accessories. We also offer spare parts for the Fairphone 4, and our audio devices, the Fairbuds and Fairbuds XL, all exclusively available through the Murena website.

 

Are the devices available in all US states and territories, or only in some states?

Fairphone  devices with /e/OS will be available in all US states, including Hawaii and Alaska.

 

Will my Fairphone work across all of North America? What about when 3G networks shutdown? Will VoLTE and VoWi-Fi work?

Fairphone phones with /e/OS will only work with T-Mobile in the US, as it is not optimized for Verizon and AT&T. This means that as long as there's T-mobile coverage, it'll work.

After the 3G network is shut down, the Fairphone  will continue working on the 4G network. It also supports VoLTE (Voice over LTE, a.k.a. 4G calling) and VoWi-Fi (Voice over Wi-Fi, a.k.a. Wi-Fi calling) on the T-mobile network in the US.

 

Can I buy accessories to go with my Fairphone?

Yes, you can visit Murena accessories.

 

Who should I contact if I have a problem with my Fairphone device (hardware or software)?

Please contact Murena support, as they have the expertise and experience with the US network situation, and take care of all the after-sales care as you purchased via them.

 

Where can I send my phone for repair in the US?

For any repair inquiries, please contact Murena support. They will be happy to assist you.

 

Can I order spare parts to repair the device myself?

Yes, you can order spare parts for the Fairphone 4 via the Murena website. We do not sell the core module, so it will also not be available via Murena.com. You will need a Phillips 00 screwdriver to replace the spare parts.

 

What if I cannot unscrew the spare parts to fix the phone myself?

If you encounter difficulties, please contact Murena customer support, and they will be able to help you.

 

Can I charge my Fairphone device with a standard American power outlet? Does it come with a US charger?

Yes, your can charge your Fairphone device with a 30W USB-C power adapter. See our support article on charging for technical requirements.

Note that your Fairphone device will ship without a cable and/or charger for the US, since most people already have a compatible one at home. In case you don’t, you can get a cable via Murena.

 

How is this US availability different from other resellers selling Fairphones outside of Europe, like Vireo?

While resellers like Vireo offer shipping of Fairphones to countries outside of Europe, their services are not part of an official launch. They do not utilize swap pools for repairs and replacements, nor can their overseas customers register for the Extended Warranty. Customers purchasing from our official partner, Murena, benefit from these services.
