The Fairphone (Gen. 6): IMEI and Serial Numbers of the Phone and Display

Every Fairphone (Gen. 6), specifically the core module, is defined by two unique identifiers:

  1. The IMEI 1 and
  2. the Serial number.

What is an IMEI 1?

The device is identified by the IMEI 1. The IMEI number is composed of 15 numbers (no letters!) and starts with "35............" i.e., "35521450024888".

Each SIM space has been assigned an IMEI for identification, and therefore Fairphone devices have two IMEI numbers, known as IMEI 1 and IMEI 2.

What is a serial number?

The parts are identified by a serial number. Serial numbers are composed of letters and numbers. The core of the phone itself is considered a part, and this will have a serial number.

These serial numbers allow us to track the spare parts to the day they have been manufactured!

  2. Look at the bottom left of your phone and push this tool into the tiny hole.
  3. The SIM tray will pop out after you hear a tiny click.
  4. Note the IMEI1 (at the top) and IMEI2 (at the bottom) found on the SIM card tray.
  5. Slide the SIM tray with the SIM card back into the same place.
