How to take a screenshot and record your screen

Taking a screenshot or recording your screen is a simple way to capture and share what is on your screen. Follow these steps to take screen captures or record video clips on your Fairphone.

These steps require Android 13 or later. Find out How to check and update your software version.


How to take a screenshot

Using phone buttons

  1. Open the screen you want to capture.
  2. Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time.
  3. Check the bottom-left corner of your screen to see a preview of your screenshot.

Using on-screen navigation

  1. Open the Recent Apps menu via:
    • Gesture navigation: Swipe up from the bottom of your screen and hold.
    • 3-button navigation: Tap the square button.
  2. Tap Screenshot at the bottom of your screen.

On the Fairphone (Gen. 6) and the Fairphone (Gen. 6+), you can turn off the screenshot button shortcut. Go to SettingsSystemGestures and tap Screenshot shortcut to toggle it off.

How to record your screen

Starting a screen recording

  1. Swipe down twice from the top of your screen to open the full Quick Settings panel.
  2. Tap Screen record to open the menu.
  3. If the option is not visible, swipe right or edit your Quick Settings to add the tile.
  4. Choose if you want to record audio or show touches on the screen.
  5. Tap Start.

Stopping a screen recording

  1. Swipe down once from the top of your screen to view your notifications.
  2. Find the Screen recorder notification.
  3. Tap Stop.
