Take a screenshot or record your screen

Your Fairphone offers several handy features to help you interact with the digital world and capture what's on your screen. Whether you need to grab a screenshot of an important detail, record your screen for a tutorial, these straightforward steps will help you master these everyday tasks.

Some of these steps only work if your Fairphone has Android 13 or above. Find out How to check and update your software version.

 


How to take a screenshot

With buttons:

  1. Open the screen you want to capture.
  2. Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time.
  3. At the bottom left, you'll see a preview of your screenshot.

Without buttons:

  1. Open the Recent Apps menu:
    • Gesture navigation: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold.
    • 3-button navigation: Tap the square button.
  2. Tap the Screenshot button at the bottom of the screen.

Tip: On the Fairphone (Gen. 6) you can disable the screenshot button shortcut by going to Settings → System → Gestures and tapping Screenshot shortcut to toggle off.

 


How to record your screen

Start recording:

  1. From the top of your screen, swipe down twice.
  2. Look for Screen record and tap to open it. 
    Tip: If it's not visible, swipe right or edit your Quick Settings to add the tile.
  3. Choose if you want to record audio and show touches on the screen.
  4. Tap Start.

Stop recording:

  1. From the top of your screen, swipe down once.
  2. Look for the Screen recorder notification.
  3. Tap Stop.
