Your Fairphone features an integrated back cover that acts as a protective shield for your battery and connects directly to the core module to contain your internal spare parts. Whether you need to replace your back cover or look up technical details for your model, this guide will help you complete the task quickly.

Before you begin

If your back cover is damaged or worn out, you can order a new one directly from the spare parts section of our online shop.

• The back cover is a core spare part, not to be confused with protective accessory cases
• On the Fairphone 4, the back cover hosts part of the NFC antenna

How to remove and attach your back cover

Follow the step-by-step instructions below based on your specific phone generation.

The Fairphone (Gen. 6)

1. Power off the phone by long-pressing the Power button. Depending on your settings, you might have to press the Power button and Volume up button together to access the power menu.
2. Place the phone on a flat surface with the screen facing down.
3. Remove the two screws on the top left and top right of the lower back cover.
4. Slide the lower back cover down toward the bottom of the device to remove it.
5. To reattach the cover, slide it up into position and replace the two screws.

Fairphone 5, Fairphone 4, and Fairphone 3/3+

1. Power off the phone by long-pressing the Power button and select "Power off".
2. Place the phone on a flat surface with the screen facing down.
3. Find the dedicated notch on the bottom-right of the back cover and lift the back cover. You will hear a click when it separates. 
4. Continue to lift the back cover by moving your finger around the phone's edges. 
5. To reattach the cover, click it back into place and press along the sides to ensure it is firmly attached.
