This guide outlines how to clean your accessory safely and maintain its sustainable materials over time.

How to clean your case safely

To maintain your case and keep it looking fresh, follow these instructions based on your specific case type and material:

Protective soft cases

• For quick everyday cleaning, gently wipe your case with the kind of cloth used to clean glasses.
• For a deeper clean, separate the case from your phone, then wash it using baby wipes or a microfiber cloth with soft soap.
• To remove persistent stains, gently rub the area with a standard pencil eraser.

The Fairphone (Gen. 6) Flip Case

• Outer PU fabric: Remove stains by gently wiping the surface with a clean cloth slightly dampened with a small amount of water or alcohol.
• Inner microfiber lining: Use a soft brush to sweep away everyday dust. For deeper dirt, use a clean cloth dampened with water to gently wipe the fabric.

Do not use alcohol or other liquid cleaning agents on the inner microfiber lining, as it may permanently damage the material. Please note that we cannot guarantee the complete removal of all deep-seated stains.

To align with our sustainability mission, we avoid extra chemical treatments and plastic coatings on our covers. While this significantly reduces waste and hazardous materials, it can make the sustainable fabric slightly more prone to surface dirt.

The Fairphone (Gen. 6) cases

The protective case for this generation is available in Cloud White, Horizon Black, and Forest Green.

It is constructed from non-toxic TPU (plastic) 100% post-consumer recycled material and 100% recycled PC. The dimensions are:

Fairphone 3 / Fairphone 3+ protective cases

The protective case for this model comes in Green, Black, Blue, and Moss green.

The materials are distinct per color version:

• Black (version 1) and Green: Non-toxic TPU from Lubrizol, which contains 37% bio-based carbon content. No extra coating is applied.
• Blue and Black (version 2): Non-toxic TPU 100% pre-consumer recycled material from industrial plastics.

• Packaging: FSC-certified paper material printed with soy-based ink.
• Extra protection features: Includes a 0.8mm height increase around the camera area to minimize lens damage, alongside an inner rib structure that creates an airbag effect to absorb 90% of dropping impact.

Replacing your original Fairphone 3 protective bumper

The Fairphone 3 originally shipped with a protective bumper inside the box to offer immediate defense from falls and scratches while we focused on developing a standalone protective case. 

To support our goal of increasing product sustainability and minimizing unnecessary material manufacturing, the bumper was excluded from the packaging of the Fairphone 3+.

Please note that the bumper is not available for purchase in our online shop. If you want extra protection for your Fairphone 3 or Fairphone 3+, we recommend upgrading to an official Fairphone protective case.
