We designed the Fairbuds app to help you get the most out of your Fairbuds and Fairbuds XL. The app allows you to customize your sound, update your headphones, and easily access support.

What you need before you begin

The Fairbuds app works on many different smartphones. You can download the app if your phone meets the following requirements:

• Android version 6 and up
• iOS version 15 and up

What you can do with the Fairbuds app

The Fairbuds app gives you more control over your headphones to ensure they last as long as possible. You can:

• Tune your sound: Change the equalizer presets to match your personal listening preferences.
• Keep your headphones updated: Install software updates over time. Updates introduce new features, resolve occasional bugs, and help your headphones last longer.
• Explore and repair: Learn about the different parts that make up your headphones. You can also order spare parts directly through the app if your headphones need a repair.
• Access support: Get quick access to the quick start guide, tutorials, support articles, and our customer service team.

How to set up and connect to the Fairbuds app

1. Download the official Fairbuds app from the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS).
2. Ensure your Fairbuds are connected to your smartphone in your device Bluetooth settings.
3. Open the Fairbuds app on your smartphone.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to discover and connect your Fairbuds.

What to do if the app cannot find your Fairbuds

If the Fairbuds app displays a connection error or cannot discover your earbuds, check your location permissions:

1. Open your smartphone Settings menu.
2. Go to Location (or Privacy & Security > Location Services on iOS) and turn location access on.
3. Ensure location permission is specifically granted to the Fairbuds app.
4. Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
5. Re-open the Fairbuds app and tap Retry.

Android operating systems require location access enabled to scan for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices. Fairphone does not track or store your location data.

Using your headphones without the app

You can use your Fairbuds XL headphones without downloading the app. You do not need the app to connect the headphones to your smartphone or to complete the initial setup.
