Fairphone is committed to providing devices that support a better digital future. To help families navigate the challenges of connected technology, we have partnered with ChatLicense - a science-backed app that acts as a 'driver’s license' for your child's first smartphone.

As of 1 September 2025, when you purchase an eligible Fairphone, you receive a free, one-year subscription to the ChatLicense Family App (a €59.99 value).

What is ChatLicense?

ChatLicense offers an app for families that can be seen as a ‘driver’s license’ for your child’s first smartphone. Using a science-backed program, the app empowers families to overcome the challenges of connected technology, while also unlocking the great potential it comes with. 

 

What is Fairphone's partnership with ChatLicense?

As a Fairphone user, we offer you a free ChatLicense subscription for one year (which ends automatically) for up to two kids and two adults (worth €59.99).

 

How long will this ChatLicense partnership offer be open?

This offer will be tentatively available till 1 September 2026 (subject to availability).

 

How will I be able to get the ChatLicense app/subscription for free?

Copy the code on this webpage and enter it at check-out when buying a Fairphone. When you click ‘Apply’, ChatLicense will be added to your cart, free of charge. The Fairphone models eligible for this offer include:

  • Fairphone 5
  • Fairphone 5 with /e/ OS
  • The Fairphone (Gen. 6)
  • The Fairphone (Gen. 6) with /e/ OS

After your product(s) are paid for, you will receive an email from Fairphone with your unique ChatLicense voucher. With this voucher, you can activate your free Family subscription in the ChatLicense app. The ChatLicense app is available on Google Play Store, Apple’s App Store, and the /e/OS App Lounge.

 

What subscription will I get for free in the ChatLicense app?

If you buy a Fairphone, you will receive a voucher that gives you free access to the Family subscription (for up to two kids and two parents). This subscription will end automatically after one year, with no automatic renewal nor extra expenses.

 

How will I gain access to the ChatLicense app?

The ChatLicense app is available on Google Play Store, Apple’s App Store, and the /e/OS App Lounge. Download the app to your device, and activate your free Family subscription using the voucher you receive from Fairphone via email.

Is the ChatLicense app available across all European countries?

Yes, it is! However, the app is only available in English, Dutch, Spanish, and French languages at the moment.

 

In which languages is the ChatLicense app available?

ChatLicense is available in Dutch, French, Spanish, and English.

 

I bought a Fairphone before 1 September 2025 and I would like to use ChatLicense for free. Can I get a unique voucher code for my child to get this subscription for free?

No, unfortunately. This deal is available from 1 September 2025 and only through our webshop. Unfortunately, if you bought a Fairphone before this date, you are not entitled to a free ChatLicense subscription.

 

Can I still make use of this deal if I give my child my old (Fair)phone and buy myself a new Fairphone?

Yes! With this deal we provide a unique voucher code to download ChatLicense for free on any phone that you and your child use. Do note that you need to buy at least one Fairphone to get this special deal.

 

The free ChatLicense subscription is for up to two kids and two adults, but I want to use this with more kids and/or more adults.

While the free Family subscription is limited to two kids and two adults, you can easily upgrade to ChatLicense Family Plus (+ €40). The cost for the upgrade will be at your own expense.

 

Does my child need a Fairphone to use the free ChatLicense subscription?

No. With this deal with ChatLicense, we provide a unique voucher code to download ChatLicense for free on any phone that you and your child uses. Do note that you need to buy at least one new Fairphone to get this special deal.

As parents, we both want to monitor our child’s activity on ChatLicense - does this work?

Yes. Your Family subscription to ChatLicense can be used by up to 2 children and up to 2 adults.

 

Do I need to cancel the ChatLicense subscription myself?

No, the subscription will end automatically after one year.

 

I would like to keep my ChatLicense subscription after one year - can I extend it for free?

No, the code is only valid for a one-year subscription that will end automatically without extra costs. If you want to extend your subscription, you can do so within the ChatLicense app at your own expense.
