My Fairphone won’t turn on

  • Updated

If your Fairphone does not turn on, will not charge, or is unresponsive after manually reinstalling an operating system, standard recovery tools cannot restore the device. Follow this guide to test your phone at home and arrange a service repair if needed.

Symptoms you might experience

  • Your phone does not turn on, vibrate, or show any screen activity when connected to a charger.
  • Your phone does not respond when you attempt to perform a factory reset through the system recovery menu.
  • Your phone is unresponsive after attempting to install an alternative operating system (such as /e/OS) or manually reinstalling stock Android.

What to test before requesting a repair

Before arranging a repair, test whether your phone can still receive power or communicate with external hardware:

  1. Confirm it’s not a battery issue by testing your battery and charging equipment.
  2. Connect your phone to a computer using a working USB-C cable to see if the computer detects the device.
  3. Factory reset your device.

If your phone remains completely unresponsive or cannot be restored via system recovery, it requires specialized tools at our repair center. Submit a repair request through our Repair Portal.

If your warranty has expired, or if installing a new OS locked the device, you can check our repair price list for current diagnostic and labor costs.
