MyFairphone App

Since 2020, we offer the MyFairphone App to our customers.
Our Fairphones now ship with the app preloaded.

We created the MyFairphone App to help you troubleshoot, get to know your phone, stay up to date with what happens in Fairphone, and support you in keeping your device for as long as possible.

In September 2023, to coincide with the launch of the Fairphone 5, we fully renovated our app.

How MyFairphone app works

What is the Home tab in MyFairphone app?

The Home tab is the starting point for the MyFairphone App. From here you have easy access to the most relevant app features such as your device information and warranty registration.

The Home tab also features the latest news highlights from Fairphone to keep you up to date on new product & software releases and our progress on our impact goals.

Since the news highlights displayed are custom to you, it is required to be signed in to the MyFairphone Account for those messages to load.

What is the Stories tab in MyFairphone app?

This Stories tab displays content which is personal to your device and the length you have been using it for. It will feature announcements from Fairphone, content about your personal impact and tips and tricks to increase your device longevity.

Similarly to the new highlights on the Home tab, you need to be signed in to the MyFairphone Account to view this content.

What is the Phone tab in MyFairphone app?

This Phone tab is fully dedicated to getting the most out of your Fairphone. From here you can access all the specific device details but also content to get you started in using your device or tutorials to repair any of the modules.

What is the Phone Timeline in MyFairphone app?

The longer you keep using your Fairphone the bigger the positive impact is. With this new feature we want to visualize the journey of you and your Fairphone and challenge you to keep it for as long as you can. You will be asked to set a goal of how many years you plan to use your device and as you continue to use it this timeline will display important milestones. This feature is not available for all Fairphone devices.

What is the Support tab in MyFairphone app?

Should you encounter any issue with your Fairphone, this is the place to go. We have included some easy tests to help you identify the problem with your device. From here you can then easily access our support articles to resolve the problem. Still in need of help? You can directly raise a ticket to our support team for assistance.

Issues logging in to MyFairphone app

Why can I not log into the MyFairphone app?

In May 2023 we rolled out our new authentication solution. If you had an account before, it has been moved and you can sign in as usual. If you forgot your password of the original account we advise you to reset it via this link. If you forgot the email address you have used to sign up for your original account we advise you to create a new account. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Why do I have to login to use MyFairphone app?

With the new update released in September 2023 the sign in/sign up has become optional. We want to make the app accessible and make sure you can use as many features as possible without signing in. This includes reaching out to support and using our troubleshooting functionality. Some features however use personalisation and therefore do require you to be signed in for them to work.

Deleting the MyFairphone app

Can I delete the MyFairphone app?

Since the MyFairphone App is one of the native apps of the Fairphone, it is not possible to deinstall it. But you can deactivate it so it is not running in the background anymore. To deactivate the MyFairphone App:

  1. In Settings > Apps and notificationsSee All xx Apps → Select the MyFairphone App
  2. Tap Disable.

If you don’t want the app at all, the only option is to install an alternative OS. Be aware that if you want to make use of your manufacturing warranty, you have to return to the original Fairphone OS.

Notifications on the MyFairphone app

I get notifications for a Longevity survey in MyFairphone app - how to stop it?

Every 6 months we send you a short survey about how long you expect to use your device. This way we can measure if Fairphones stay in use longer than the average smartphone. To stop getting these invitations:

  1. Open the MyFairphone App
  2. In Settings, set the toggle to Off in either All notifications, or only the toggle for Give feedback.

I get notifications for registering for the Extended Warranty in MyFairphone app - how to stop it?

It is possible that you still receive reminders after you have registered. To stop the invitation and reminders:

  1. Open the MyFairphone App
  2. In Settings, set the toggle to Off in either All notifications, or only the toggle for Warranty reminder.

Availability of the MyFairphone app

Can I use the MyFairphone app on an alternative operating system like /e/OS?

No. The MyFairphone App depends on some Google Play Service APIs. So the phone needs to have Google Play Services installed. The MyFairphone App currently does not work with operating systems other than the Fairphone OS. However, we are looking into the possibilities to make it available in the future.

Is MyFairphone App only available for Fairphone users in Google Play Store?

The app is only available for Fairphone users.

Will the MyFairphone app become open source?

There are no current plans to make the app open source as it requires Google API’s to work.

What personal data is collected on MyFairphone app?

You can read more about this in our Privacy Policy of the MyFairphone App:

Open the MyFairphone appSettingsPrivacy Policy.

It is also possible to read and download our Privacy Policy via our Legal page.

How do I change the language of the news items on MyFairphone app to my preferred language?

The language of the news items in the app follows your newsletter preferences. The easiest way to change this language is to go to the Settings of the app (in the Account screen) and change the language in the Language Settings dropdown. After confirming it will take up to 10 minutes before this change is visible. If you still do not see it changed after this please close the app in full from your multitask and launch it again.
