How to fix Wi-Fi connection issues on your Fairphone
If your Fairphone cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network or keeps disconnecting, follow these steps to resolve the issue.
ⓘ These steps require Android 13 or later. Find out How to check and update your software version.
What you need before you begin
Make sure the router for your network is turned on and within range. If other devices cannot connect to the network, the issue is likely with the router. Check the router support resources or contact your internet service provider for help.
How to check your network settings
- On your phone, go to Settings > Network and internet.
- If Airplane mode is on, tap Airplane mode to turn it off.
- Tap Internet to check if Wi-Fi is turned on.
- If Wi-Fi is turned on, you will see a list of available networks.
- If Wi-Fi is turned off, tap the toggle to turn it on.
How to connect to your network
- Tap the name of your network from the list of available networks.
- Enter the password if prompted, then tap Connect.
If your network does not appear in the list:
- Restart your router by unplugging it for at least two minutes, then plug it back in.
- Make sure that your router is turned on and working properly.
What to do if you have no internet access
If your phone connects to the network but has no internet, the problem is likely with your internet connection. Check your router support resources or contact your internet service provider.
Connecting to an enterprise network
When connecting to enterprise networks (WPA/WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise) with PEAP, reach out to your local network administrator for support.
PEAP is widely used in enterprise networks. Starting with Android 11, insecure configurations like "Phase 2 authentication: None" and "CA certificate: Don't validate" were removed to improve security. If PEAP is set up with a valid CA certificate and proper authentication settings, it will work as expected. These security changes apply to all Android devices and are not specific to Fairphone.
What to do if your Fairphone still cannot connect
- Try connecting your phone to another Wi-Fi network, such as a friend's or neighbor's network.
- If your phone connects to another Wi-Fi network, the issue is likely with your original network. Contact your internet service provider for support.
- If your phone will not connect to any Wi-Fi network, the issue is likely with the phone. Use our Fairphone's online troubleshooting tool for further guidance.
