Taxes, VAT, and customs duties on Fairphone orders
When you buy from our online shop, your taxes and customs duties depend on your shipping address. This guide explains how we calculate VAT, shipping costs, and customs fees for your order.
Taxes on orders within the European Union (EU)
All product prices in our online shop include the VAT rate of your shipping country.
- VAT on products: You can see the exact VAT amount for your shipping country on your email order confirmation.
- Shipping costs: Your shipping fees depend on your order value and destination country.
- VAT on services: We apply a Dutch VAT rate of 21% to our services because Fairphone is a Dutch company.
Orders shipped to the UK, Switzerland, and Norway
When you ship your order to the UK, Switzerland, or Norway, we include local VAT, customs fees, and administrative costs in the product price and shipping charges.
You should not need to pay extra customs duties or tariffs when your delivery arrives. If you receive an unexpected charge, please contact Fairphone Customer Support to verify it.

Exporting your purchase outside our delivery zones
You can request VAT refund documents from Fairphone Customer Support if you plan to take your purchase outside the economic zones we serve, unless you are departing the EU area from the Netherlands.
- Check local rules: Before you travel, check the customs authority website of your destination country or purchase country to see what documents you need.
- Claiming your refund: Claiming back VAT is easiest at your airport of departure.
