Why was my order cancelled?
Fairphone mostly cancels orders when a payment does not process successfully. You must place a new order to complete a purchase after you resolve the payment issue.
Common reasons for payment failure
- Blocked pop-up windows: Firewalls or browser extensions can block the payment pop-up window during checkout. Disable all pop-up blockers before placing a new order.
- Fraud prevention blocks: Credit card companies block transactions based on the network IP address to prevent fraud. Use a different payment method, another computer, or an alternative internet connection to complete the checkout.
- 3D Secure authentication failure: The bank cancels transactions when the cardholder fails the 3D Secure authentication prompt. The 3D Secure security protocol protects online transactions by requesting extra verification from the cardholder. Place a new order in the online shop and complete the verification step. If the error continues, contact the credit card issuer or select a different payment method.
- PayPal guest account restrictions: PayPal guest accounts have a maximum limit for allowed transactions. Contact PayPal to resolve account limitations.
- Missing house number: Shipping addresses require a house number to pass validation. If the address does not have a house number, count the house numbers from a neighbor or type "1" to complete the field.
- General banking limitations: Account limitations or insufficient funds can cause a transaction failure. Check with the bank to ensure the account has enough funds and no active restrictions.
When a payment succeeds, Fairphone sends a confirmation email containing the invoice. Device owners can verify the successful transaction inside personal bank or credit card account statements.
