What is the difference between "Out of stock" and "No longer available"?
At Fairphone, we design our products to last as long as possible. Part of that commitment means keeping our webshop transparent about whether an item is just temporarily missing or if its production cycle has come to an end.
If you are looking for a phone, a spare part, or an accessory, you might see two different availability statuses: Out of stock or No longer available. Here is exactly what those terms mean for you and your device.
Out of stock (Temporary)
When an item is listed as Out of stock, it means we have no current stock, but the product is still actively being manufactured. This mostly occurs during high-demand periods for our latest devices or popular spare parts.
If a product is temporarily out of stock, a "Notify me" button will appear directly on the webshop product page. Click this button and enter your email address to sign up for a restock alert. When we receive new inventory, you will receive an automated email so you can complete your purchase.
No longer available (Permanent)
When an item is listed as No longer available, it means the product has been formally discontinued. We have stopped production entirely, and our own internal sales stock is completely sold out.
While it is gone from our official webshop, our network of European sales partners and retail distributors may still have remaining stock on their shelves. We recommend checking with local sustainable tech resellers. Our Fairphone forum also includes a marketplace where other Fairphone users can sell their items.
Fairphone is built on longevity. Even after we stop selling a device, we remain committed to providing software updates, troubleshooting help, and factory repair services for years to come.
Stock availability: Frequently asked questions
Why can't I see a "Notify me" button?
If the "Notify me" button is missing from a product page, it means the item has been permanently discontinued or has reached its "End of Sales" phase.
Because the product is no longer being manufactured and will not be returning to stock, the notification option is removed. We recommend checking our shop for our latest models or alternative colors.
How long does it usually take for an "Out of Stock" item to return?
Restocking timelines can vary depending on the item. The quickest way to find out the moment it lands in our warehouse is to click the "Notify me" button on the product page. You’ll get an automated email the second it’s available to purchase.
A specific phone color or model I want is discontinued. Can I still get support for it?
Absolutely. Even when a specific phone model or color is no longer for sale, we remain committed to its longevity. You will still have access to customer support, software updates, and compatible spare parts for as long as possible to keep your device running smoothly.
Can customer support tell me exactly when an item will be back in stock?
Our support team sees the same availability data as our website. To ensure you don't miss out, it is always best to sign up via the "Notify me" button on the product page rather than reaching out to support, as the automated email alerts are sent out instantly.
