Fairbuds XL Spare Parts Replacement Guide

To assist you in the repair process, watch our instructional video series below to learn how you can repair your headphones by replacing certain parts.

 

-IMPORTANT- If you don't feel comfortable repairing the headphones by yourself, contact our Customer Support, and they will arrange a repair for you.

 

You will need to share with us the serial number of your Fairbuds XL. This is located inside the left speaker part. You can find the serial number by taking off the left earcap cover and removing the battery.

Replacement Guide

The modular design of the Fairbuds XL makes it easier for users to repair their headphones at home. This encourages people to keep their headphones for longer and is both better for their wallet, and for the planet.

Battery replacement

-IMPORTANT-

Make sure to dispose of the old battery at a nearby recycling center or municipality station.

  1. Lift the left earcap cover by pulling it away from the speaker with your finger.
  2. Remove the old battery from the compartment.
  3. Insert the new battery with "yours to open, yours to keep" facing up. Slide it into place and press down gently if needed.
  4. Close the earcap by pressing it until it snaps back into place.
  5. Dispose of the old battery at a nearby recycling center or municipality station.

Done! You have now successfully replaced the battery in your Fairbuds XL.

 

Ear cushion replacement

-IMPORTANT- Before we begin, hold onto the speckled part of the ear cushion to prevent damaging the battery-containing part.

  1. Twist the ear cushion counterclockwise until it clicks and releases.
  2. Align the hooks of the new ear cushion with the slots inside the device and securely engage them.
  3. Ensure that the arrow on the cushion is pointing up.
  4. Hold onto the speckled part of the new ear cushion and twist it clockwise to secure it in place.
  5. Hear a click to verify that the new cushion is securely in place.

That's it! You've now successfully replaced the ear cushion on your Fairbuds XL.

 

Speaker replacement

-IMPORTANT-
Please refer to the other chapters of our tutorials for a detailed guide on replacing the earcap cover, battery, and ear cushions, as these are essential steps in replacing the speaker. Both tutorials are included in this article.

  1. Lift the left earcap cover by pulling it away from the speaker with your finger.
  2. If you are replacing the left speaker, gently lift the battery out of the compartment and hold it securely.
  3. Remove the ear cushion by holding onto the speckled part and twisting counterclockwise.
  4. Release the cable connecting the ear cushion to the speaker.
  5. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the two screws and remove the headband base (be careful not to strip the threads).
  6. To replace the speaker, follow these steps in reverse order:
    1. Insert the new speaker.
    2. Screw in the two screws.
    3. Connect the cable to the top of the new speaker and ensure it is securely locked in place.
    4. Reassemble the device by replacing the headband base, ear cushion, battery, and earcap cover.

Congratulations! You have now successfully replaced the speaker.

 

Headband replacement (base and cable) 

-IMPORTANT-
Before you begin, make sure you have a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  1. Release the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cable from the side where you're replacing the base by gently lifting the connector out of the socket.
  2. Open the headband cover by lifting either side of the cover's gap in the center.
  3. Lift the silver lever to release the headband base and speaker from the headband.
  4. Remove the earcap cover by lifting it away from the speaker.
  5. Unscrew the two screws that connect the headband base to the speaker using the Phillips #00 screwdriver. Be careful not to strip the threads.
  6. Attach the new headband base to the speaker by aligning the holes and screwing them together with the removed screws. Tighten securely, but don't overtighten.
  7. Reassemble the device: put the earcap cover back on, click the headband base into the headband and lower the silver lever, and close the headband cover.
  8. Insert the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cable by gently lifting the connector and sliding it into the socket, making sure it's securely seated.

 

Headband and Cable Replacement

  1. Release the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cable on one side of the headphones by gently lifting the connector out of the socket.
  2. Lift the silver lever to release the headband base and speaker from the headband.
  3. Slide the cable out of the headband.
  4. If necessary, replace the headband and cable:
    1. Slide the cable into the headband.
    2. Slide the headband cover over the cable and headband.
    3. Click the headband base into the headband and lower the silver lever.
    4. Close the headband cover by pressing it back into place.
    5. Apply the earcap cover by pressing it down until it snaps back into place.
  5. Insert the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cables on both sides of the headphones by gently lifting the connectors and sliding them into the sockets on the speakers.
  6. Press down until the cables fit securely.

 

Headband Cover, Headband, and Cable replacement

  1. To remove the headband cover, start by releasing the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cable on one side of the headphones.
  2. Flap the headband cover open.
  3. Lift the silver lever to release the headband base and speaker.
  4. Slide the headband cover off the headband.
  5. To remove the headband and cable, release the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cable on the other side of the headphones.
  6. Lift the silver lever to release the headband base and speaker on the other side.
  7. Slide the cable out of the headband.
  8. If necessary, replace the headband and/or the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cable:
    1. Slide the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cable back into the headband.
    2. Slide the headband cover over the cable and headband.
    3. Click the headband base into the headband, and lower the lever to secure the base.
    4. Close the headband cover.
    5. Apply the earcap cover.
    6. Insert the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cable on both sides of the headphones.
      Note:
      Make sure the USB-C speaker-to-speaker cables are securely seated in the sockets.
