How to spot a phishing email or message
Even if an email looks like it comes from Fairphone or one of our partners, cybercriminals can sometimes use deceptive tactics. Keep an eye out for these common red flags:
- Urgent or threatening language: Phishing emails often try to create a sense of panic (e.g., "Your order will be canceled in 24 hours!" or "Your account has been compromised!").
- Mismatched or suspicious links: Before clicking a link, hover your mouse over it (or long-press on mobile) to see the actual destination URL. If it doesn't match the Fairphone or partner domains listed above, do not click it.
- Requests for highly sensitive information: Fairphone and its partners will never ask you for your account passwords, full credit card numbers, or bank PINs via an unsolicited email.
-
Unexpected attachments: Be wary of emails containing attachments you didn't ask for, especially
.zip,.exe, or.htmlfiles. -
Slight misspellings in the domain: Scammers often register domains that look almost identical to the real ones (e.g.,
@fairph0ne.comor@cordongroups.com). Always double-check the spelling against our official list.
Still not sure?
We also communicate via our official Social Media channels, but we will never ask for sensitive data there either. If you receive an email claiming to be from us that triggers any of these red flags, do not interact with it. Please contact our support team directly through our official website to verify its authenticity.
